Bio
Michael Wesley Ham was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana in 1979. He grew up in south Louisiana and attended Louisiana State University where he received a Bachelor of Arts in History. He moved to New York City in 2004 to continue his studies and received a Masters of Art in Photography and Media Art from New York University and The International Center of Photography. Upon graduation Ham has taught at The International Center of Photography as well as New York City’s College of Technology.
Ham’s personal work deals with the ideas surrounding family and legacy. Currently based in Brooklyn, his work is heavily influenced by his experiences growing up in southern Louisiana and consistently returns there to create images. In addition to being an artist, a large part of Ham’s interests lie in the education of young people through the power of Photography and Media. M.Wesley Ham works as a photographer / media artist, an educator, a digital imaging consultant, and a commercial retoucher. He has been internationally exhibited and published. He is currently faculty at ICP as well as New York City College of Technology.
